Bonjour! Bienvenue! My name is McKenzie Carpenter. I’m a student at Central Michigan University, studying public relations and French (as you might guess from the introduction).
I consider myself to be a fairly laid-back individual, mostly because I was brought up in a small farming community in southern Michigan. Life moves at a slow pace in that area. You can imagine how shocked I was when I came to college because, let me tell you, it was a culture shock. The immense amount of people and a new city really threw me for a loop. Even though I grew up in a very rural community, I have grown accustomed to city life and, dare I say, consider myself a city-slicker now (don’t tell my mom).
My entire life I have been passionate about the entertainment industry, which is how I found public relations. My life pretty much revolves around new movies, television shows, music, celebrity breakups, hookups, and babies. I love it all. I know, I know. That stuff doesn’t really “matter,” but I cannot explain to you how excited I get when I find out Julia Roberts has a new movie, ABC is premiering a new television show, or LANY releases a new album. It consumes my life, and I would not have it any other way.
As for my desire to learn a new language, I can’t really explain it. I’ve always wanted to be bilingual, but never wanted to learn Spanish because I wanted a language skill that would set me apart. Insert French. It truly is a beautiful language that I enjoy learning. The culture, the fashion, the food. I love the French way of life.
